The Putnam County Veterans Service Agency has received national recognition from Maj. Gen. Edward Chrystal Jr., U.S. Army, for its exceptional work as a commemorative partner with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration.
The Department of Defense honored the county agency as a top performer, placing it in the top 15 percent of more than 13,000 organizations nationwide that have participated in this prestigious initiative since its inception in 2012.
“Being recognized as a top performer by the Department of Defense is an incredible honor,” said Karl Rohde, director of the Putnam County VSA. “Our mission has always been to serve our veterans and their families with the utmost respect and gratitude. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our team, our community partners, and the people of Putnam County who have joined us in honoring our Vietnam veterans.”
In a letter from Chrystal, the VSA was commended for its steadfast commitment to honoring Vietnam veterans and their families. The agency’s dedication to hosting more than five events as part of the commemoration efforts has significantly contributed to a national tribute that has touched the lives of more than 4 million veterans and their families across the country.
“On behalf of a grateful nation and the entire staff of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, we commend you for being a top performer commemorative partner,” wrote Chrystal. “Your dedication and initiative contributed significantly to this national tribute, whereby over 4 million veterans and their families have been recognized for their service and sacrifice.”
The Putnam County VSA’s efforts are among the most impactful in the nation, with its work helping to facilitate healing and bestow honor on Vietnam veterans, their families, and the community. The recognition underscores the agency’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the service and sacrifices of Vietnam veterans are never forgotten.
Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne expressed his pride in the VSA’s achievements.
